Jacqueline Chen PANEL “Unleashing the Power of Computing and Data at Scale”

Topic: Unleashing the Power of Computing and Data at Scale

A Purdue University College of Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series panel-based question and answer session with Jacqueline Chen, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at the Combustion Research Facility at Sandia National Laboratories and moderated by Ale Strachan, Professor of Materials Engineering.

The convergence of hardware, data and simulation tools, and a global infrastructure for cloud computing has the potential to accelerate innovation in learning, research and development. As we move towards exascale computing and petascale systems become widely available, synergistic combinations of physics-based modeling, data science, and machine learning open exciting applications. Examples include, providing real-time feedback to industrial processes, accelerating product design and enabling personalized education at scale. This panel will focus on the opportunities unleashed by pervasive access to high performance compute and data tools.

Moderator: Ale Strachan
Panelist: Bob Lucht
Panelist: Carlo Scalo
Panelist: Arezoo Ardekani
Panelist: Jacqueline Chen

Jacqueline H. Chen has contributed broadly to research in direct numerical simulations of turbulent combustion elucidating turbulence-chemistry interactions in turbulent flames and ignition processes.
