The Physics Department at CSULB has a reputation for three things; world class research, having a great teaching Faculty, and for involving students in hands-on published research which makes a difference in the world outside. In particular we reach out to sections of the population who are under-represented amongst Physics researchers — the Hispanic and African-American communities. We have modern laboratories and world-class research facilities. In particular, we mentor and are very supportive of our students academically and in their career choices. And we have successfully built a Physics Teacher Network, PhysTEC which engages with High School Physics Teachers to increase the quality of Physics taught in schools.
